Long time sense our last update.

Nevaeh is doing great. We are on medicine to help with the weight gain. It has helped some with weight but it has done great with helping her keep food down. She is now 3 1/2 and 24lbs. Not bad. She had an echo right before christmas. there was no change. So The dr decided not to look at a additional repair until she is about 12! :) Looks like this will be a yearly blog for Nevaeh!

Nevaeh update

We have a few things coming up for Nevaeh. She has a well visit with her pediatrician. It is nice really to have well visits. She is still having problems with weight and keeping food down. She is 16lbs at 21 months. So we also have an appointment with a GI doctor. I have no idea what road this will lead down. I a praying for all is normal. Then we have an appointment with the cardiologist. I have decided we are going to see a different one this time to get a fresh view on her. She has a hole and a leaking valve we are watching. So there is the little update nothing new and no answers.

Long Needed update

Nevaeh is doing wonderfully!!!!!! So let me update you on how things have been for her.

We were having a hard time with weight. She just would not gain. We were doing anything and everything we could think of to increase her weight. I was feeding around the clock every 2 hours! ahhhhh ( who needs sleep right!?). We started solid foods. Well only avocado. She LOVED it! but did not gain any better. She got to a point she was only gaining a 1/2 ounce a week! That is not even close to the 1oz-1/2oz a day she needed to be. I was feeling like i was failing her. I was doing all i could and i felt i just was not good enough.

In the mean time Nevaeh got her first cold. So you would think a mom of three would handle this with ease...ohhh no not me! I was sooo worried. The boys had the same cold no big deal it will run its course. But my Nay Nay! So i called the dr. hmmmmm i was doing everything i should. Ok but ...but ...but I am so scared for my little heart baby to get sick. She did wonderful. It never got bad. A little stuffy nose was all. So i will try to chill out a little more. :)

So we continued not to gain anymore than our half ounce a week. So we ended up at Primary Children s. She had a chest x-ray and an ecco. It seemed like for ever waiting for her cardiologist to come in and let me know how she is doing. GUESS WHAT!!!!!! Her whole (VSD) is closing! ahhhhh! I was so excited. The dr was not expecting to see that because the last appointment there was no change. SOOOOOO drum roll!!!!! No more surgerys!!!! Yahoooooo!!!!!! I am so happy. So we go back in next Aug. That seems like forever! So as far as her weight it is not heart related. So we went back into our pediatrician for our 6 month check up. I was planning to talk to him about weight. Well.........She gained 1lb.3oz!!!! In one month! Wow! I was not doing anything different. So now she is right in the same percentile the boys were at the same age.

So off that roller coaster. What a ride that was. So onto the next one. I thought I had to get in line and wait but nope right back on front row! At least this one does not involve Nevaeh.

Cloth Diapers!

I have been cloth diapering Nevaeh. I love the cloth diapers! I really was not sure that i would but now i wish I had cloth diapered my first two. I have been useing Bum Genius and they are wonderful! They are easy to wash, you do not need plastic pants, and they grow with your baby! So i have been looking at how these are made and I felt i could make my own. So i did! I have attached a couple of the pictures of Nevaeh in her new cute diaper. I tried it over night to make sure it worked and it was perfect! Yay! I am going to tweak the pattern a little and then try and sell a few. :)

Christmas!

Nevaeh had a wonderful first Christmas. Alex and Josh woke up at 7am ready to go. Nevaeh was not quite keen on the idea of getting up at 7am. :) We all got ready and opened packages. Nevaeh was asleep again by the time it was her turn. Between nursing, making breakfast and the boys opening their packages we did not get to Nevaeh's or Aaron and I's presents until lunch! It was fun.

Nevaeh's Great Grandma Forbes made her a stocking. All of the Forbes family has the same stocking. Our stocking have our name and the date we became apart of the family.

We had a blast making Joefroggers. They are cookies Aaron's family makes each year during the holiday season. The boys had so much fun making these. I washed their playdough toys and let them cut the cookie dough that way. It was a fun messy project.

We are so thankful for the best Christmas gift ever...Jesus our Lord and Savior! As a family we have been through so much this year. It is only through our faith in Christ that we are given the hope. "Thank you Lord for all you have done in our lives this past year. We also thank you for the lessons learned and the strength to endure the hard times. We love you Lord!"

Check-up

Nevaeh had a a four month check up and we learned she only gain 1 once in the past week. That is not good. She is nursing and is allergic to milk as you all know. It is hard as a mom to be feeling like i am failing her. We are going to try starting some solids early to see if we can get some extra calories in her. I am also block feeding. My friend Laura is with the LLL and this is recommendation. This is where you would nurse her on one side for, say, 3 or 4 hours. As in, every time she wants to nurse during that time period she would nurse on the same side. Then for the next 3 or 4 hours she would nurse on the other side any time she wants. This can be helpful for moms with oversupply so that the baby gets more hindmilk. Since she would be feeding on the same side for several hours she would get more hindmilk on that side versus just filling up on only the less caloric foremilk.
